Ioan Gruffudd’s wife Alice Evans claims he ‘secretly filed for divorce’ after split

Ioan Gruffudd has ‘secretly filed for divorce’ from wife Alice Evans, she has claimed on social media.

Their 13-year marriage is reaching its conclusion after it was reported that the 47-year-old actor filed documents at the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Alice, 49, has acted with surprise though, as she suggests that she had no idea that he was taking this action and claims she only found out through news reports.

This continues from her shock at Ioan leaving her and their children in the first place, news of which she shared in emotional statement on Instagram.

Alice shared a news report about Ioan filing for divorce on her Instagram and wrote: “Oh, ok. Thanks for letting me know I guess.”

Liar star Ioan left his wife in January, with Alice claiming he “no longer loves her”.

She shared the news in a since deleted Twitter post, in which she explained what Ioan had said as a reason for wanting to split.

She wrote at the time: “Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week.

“Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me.’ I’m so sorry.”

They have been married since 2007 and have two daughters, Ella, 11, and Elsie, seven, after meeting on the set of 102 Dalmations in 2000.

Alice has since claimed that he has been “gaslighting” and “mentally torturing” her, as the fallout from the relationship threatened to turn toxic.

Speaking about his decision, Ioan said: “Look, as I said before, it’s an extremely difficult time for the family.

“Our thoughts are with our children obviously right now and I’d really respect a little bit of privacy right now, thank you.”
